So recently there has been some drama about the Hetalia models and the "no yaoi" rule. I just wanna clear this up. Only a few of the models are affected by this rule. I found this out by scouring the readmes, using my own knowledge of Japanese and a few professional translators, I came up with a list of models that are and aren't affected:
America: YES (no R rated stuff) Canada: YES Cuba: YES England: YES (but no R rated stuff) Sweden: NO Denmark: YES France/Germany/Austria/Prussia: YES if you follow the English rules (which means you don't edit them) But NO if you follow the Japanese rules. Greece: YES Hong Kong: YES Japan: YES China: YES (no R rated) Norway: YES (no R) Sealand: YES (no R) Finland: YES (no R) Estonia: YES (no R rated) Russia: YES (no R rated) N. Italy:YES (no R rated) S. Italy: YES (no R) Iceland: YES (no R) Spain: NO
Now to hana's rules. You all may already know that hana included two sets of rules with her models. One was an English readme and the other was Japanese.
In the English readme, she said that there is NO editing, NO redistributing, NO commercial use, and NO use in 18+ material such as violence (blood and gore) and sexual scenes.
In the Japanese readme, editing is allowed under certain conditions. And this is where the "no yaoi" rule comes into play. She made those two readmes because western users will not understand all of her conditions. So, to clarify, the "no yaoi" rule only affects you based on what set of rules you choose to follow.
Also, it shouldn't be called yaoi, since that violates all of the modelers' rules because yaoi involves intercourse between two men. Call it by it's correct name which is "shonen-ai".
I hope that this clears up some misunderstandings and that this pointless drama will stop.
I forgot to put Macao's in there. Ok, so no violence/gore, sex scenes, but other than that, shonen ai is ok.
Also, to clarify, Sweden's readme mentioned NO YAOI but did not bar shonen ai. And Spain's readme was unclear, so I'll have someone look over it for me.
So Spain's rules are the same as hana's Japanese rules. No yaoi for him.
Also, I was wrong before. The rules do cover shonen-ai. :/
Oops, I meant to say that :iconroco-66: also made it so yaoi/shonen-ai/yuri/shoujo-ai is not allowed with her models too. So that means Finland, Norway, China, Russia, Sealand, Estonia, and Iceland are on the "no love" list too.
*crying forever* on the latest version of America I downloaded, it said on the read me thing that you can't use him even for KISSES ! yeah, it said that the model doesn't have to be used for represent relations ships INCLUDING kisses or something like that...
I'm also learning Japanese! ^___^ It's a bit sad IF the Spain and Sweden model can't be use for shounen-ai. (I had no idea Yaoi meant gay sex and I don't go that far). Maybe after I learn the language and try to ask the modelers themselves about the rules concerning that topic, so I'll know for sure. It might be awhile, though. It's kinda a bit disappointing since Sweden is an official gay character, but the modeler might not support shounen-ai for him. I really hope they do.

This is very smart, I mean, nobody thought of making a list, finding out about the readme and rule stuff, and putting up categories of what the models can't be used in, or anything... :3 But does that mean HetaOni can't be used for it, cuz there was something... Anyway, still, very good! You should... Actually, there is a really complimenting word on the tip of my tongue, but I forget. ^-^'
Well the only one that's forbidden completely is Sweden. The others don't forbid relationships but don't endorse them either. Hana doesn't forbid relationships like that as long as you follow the english rules. Kanaha doesn't say it's against the rules and zeze doesn't mention it as a rule.
