First off, let me say that I am not trying to attack or offend anyone. I am simply expressing my own feelings about the matter.

I've seen quite a few edits around here lately and some of them are really amazing and cool, but some actually, quite frankly, suck. I understand that many people put in a lot of work into making the edits look awesome and props to them for their hard work. But my personal opinion is that the person who made the actual model from scratch worked MUCH harder than the person who comes in and edits it without their permission.

So...about crappy (or what I call lazy) edits. Take that in mind that the modeler worked hard on it. I personally would be thrilled to see someone improve upon my model and work hard to make it better and to find some use out of it too. But when someone just takes my model that I put my soul into and just turns it into utter...well crap, I'd be highly offended. (Like I mentioned before, please do not take offense. I fully understand that there are people who are beginning in PMD editor, but they are not the ones at whom this is directed to. This is for those people who are plain LAZY.)

Now about illegal edits. There are really excellent ones out there now, but again, really bad ones. My overall opinion about illegal edits is I guess you'd say neutral. I like to enforce the rules politely because I believe that the modeler's wishes should be heeded, but I also like to see what people can do with the models, and I find it cool. However, if the modeler's were to have a say, (which they do) I think that overall they would disapprove of edits, but still (depending on who they are) would like to see how people can improve upon and use their models. It's like putting your art out there for people to critique, improve and make something out of it. But a bad illegal edit is plain insulting. It's like a smack to the face. It's plain offensive if you ask me.

As for me, I prefer to try to let the modeler know that I'm editing their model as a form of courtesy. If they strongly disapprove then I try to find another substitute.

And for those of you who attack people for illegal edits, please stop. It's not helping anyone at all. The people who you attack are least likely now to stop than they ever were. If they did not know the rules, BE NICE ABOUT IT. It's the number one way for them to gain respect for you and heed what you say without you looking like a total asshole.
