Children's Memorial by chocosunday
Children's Memorial
This is a picture of the statue of the children's memorial in Hiroshima's Peace Park erected in the memory of the children who died in Hiroshima after the A-bomb. It is symbolized with a crane in the memory of Sadako, the first victim to die of the after effects of radiation caused by the bomb.

Hiroshima Peace Park by chocosunday
Hiroshima Peace Park
This was the site of the dropping of the bomb in Hiroshima. While I was there, I had the privilege to hear the stories of some survivors. One story that really stayed with me was the story of a woman who immigrated to Japan from South Korea and she married a Japanese man. She had three children, a daughter and two sons. Her youngest son was still an infant when the blast occurred. She said that she had laid her son down for his nap when it happened. She rushed into his room to find him wailing in his bed with his buttons burned onto his body. She could not lift him up for he was glued to his bed. She was forced to leave her tiny baby in that room to die while she scrambled to gather her other children. "I hate that bomb. It took my family away." she said.
Once a year on the anniversary of the dropping of the bomb, the residents of Hiroshima get together to have a "birthday" of sorts where they celebrate those who survived and pray for those that died. Each family lights candles in memory of those who were lost.

Little Boy by chocosunday
Little Boy
This was the shell of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945. It was dropped by the Enola Gay above the port city with it's original aim being the "T" bridge near the Japanese military base. Instead, it landed on an Arts and Recreation building about 15 meters away from its original target. This and the bomb "Fat Man" dropped in Nagasaki killed 80,000 Japanese citizens almost instantly. In the peace park museum that I went to in Hiroshima, it had mannequins of school children with their skin literally melting off of their faces and hanging off of their arms. Most of the artifacts in the museum were the belongings of children, some as young as 3 years old, who were obliterated on the spot. I thought that since the 70th anniversary of this horrific event is coming up, it would be appropriate to share what I saw in the museum.

Chidori Castle, Matsue by chocosunday
Chidori Castle, Matsue
This is the Chidori Castle in Matsue, named so because it resembles the bird chidori in coloration. It is one of the 13 remaining samurai castles in Japan and it's regarded as a national treasure. The stairs to the top of the castle resemble ladders. They had latches on the back so that they could be lowered and lifted like drawbridges. This is so if the castle were under siege, the residents could climb up the stairs and lift them up and secure them so the enemy could not get to them.

Hello all and welcome to my gallery! No flash photography please.
Let me start out by introducing myself. My name's Erica. Pleased to meet you! I'm usually an amicable and laid-back person. It takes quite a bit to set me off.
Anyway.....I am an artist that dabbles in a little bit of everything. Graphic art and writing mainly. I also enjoy drawing and doing things in Vocaloid, MMD, and UTAU.
I hope we can get along!~

Hey everyone! Long time no see! I just got a new computer and I installed my new sims game on here. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a livestream where I showcase what the game has to offer!
